Orland Park, with a population nearing the 53,000 mark, was settled as a small farm village more than one hundred years ago and has now transformed into a large dynamic and progressive community. The I-57 connector to downtown Chicago is located 10 minutes to the east, along with the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) which is 15 minutes to the north via LaGrange Road. Interstate Tollway 294 is also located 10 minutes to the east.

Orland Park prides itself on being a dynamic leader in land development, while at the same time, being at the forefront of preservation of open space. The Village itself has more than 500 acres of public parklands and a diversity of recreational amenities from an elaborate aquatic center to playgrounds, tennis courts, sports fields, and hiking and biking trails. Thousands of acres of forest and wildlife preserves exists, along with more than 20 challenging golf courses which dominate the area surrounding Orland Park. The abundance of parks, walking trails and passive recreational areas complement and enhance the retail, office, service and industrial areas.

Orland Park is now the unchallenged commercial center of the Chicago Southland suburban region. Many major national retail entities reside in the Village’s enclosed regional shopping mall as well as hundreds of smaller firms throughout the length of LaGrange Road and 159th Street. Ten automobile dealerships reside on 159th in Orland Park which is beneficial to this auto mall. Additional retail continues along Harlem Avenue at the east end of Orland Park.

Orland Park is home to more than 100 small to midsize industrial and distribution companies. Andrew Corporation is the Village’s largest industrial employer, working as a global leader in communications equipment and systems. Panduit Corporation’s headquarters are also located in Orland Park, known as a world leader in network and electrical solutions.

Land availability is a key factor in Orland Park’s appeal to industry. The Village has three large areas set aside for industrial development. Hundreds of acres of land are available for office development on LaGrange Road between 159th and 167th Street. Other plans for this area include hotels, stores, offices, high-tech research, light industry, educational facilities, and residences. (U.S. Route 45)

Orland Park’s goal is to continue to redevelop, both commercial and residential properties, and maintain the area. This plan will provide increased business opportunities to the area and assure the growth of the village’s economic base and property values.
